The following recipe is my variation of Red Lobster imitation of the popular restaurant dish. The blue crabs are common all over my state of Florida and the fried crab shell Soft typical flat Florida. Try my version of this recipe delicious crab everything is completely edible!
Fried soft shell crab
4 Soft Shell Blue Crab
1 egg, beaten
1 cup crumbled bacon
1 / 4 cup flour (seasoned with salt and pepper)
vegetable oil (for fry)
Clean the crabs (remove the gills and sandbags and a small piece in the rear of the hull). Soak the crabs in 1 cup water with 2 tablespoons salt (solution) for at least 15 minutes. Mix cookie crumbs with seasoned flour. Drain crab sauce and the first in beaten egg, then roll in cracker crumbs to coat. Fry the crab in a small amount of oil heated to 365 degrees until browned, turning once (10 to 15 minutes of cooking time). Drain on paper towels and garnish with lemon slices. Serve with garlic bread, crackers or bagel chips.
Recipe for Red Lobster uses the Florida soft-shell blue crabs, that are available live, fresh or frozen. Fresh crab should be refrigerated and used (cooked) in 2 days.
The blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) is one of the most valuable seafood in the United States. They are the crabs in shallow water along Florida's Gulf and Atlantic coasts. During the months of winter, they move to deeper water where they enter a state of semi hibernation. Hard Shell Blue Crabs are caught by the traps. Molting is a process that allows a crab to get rid of its outer coat regularly to develop. Crab closes the loose, hard cover to reveal the new soft shell inside.
So, basically soft-shell blue crabs are difficult to shell that have been targeted, as they were ready to move and kept in tanks filled with water up to ancient deposits were made.
